U.S. Deploying Second Carrier Group to Israel

Set to leave Norfolk Friday.

The aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower with its associated warships and fighter jets is leaving Norfolk, Virginia, for the Eastern Mediterranean on Friday. This second strike group deployment increases America’s support for Israel in its conflict with Hamas. It should arrive off the coast of Israel by the end of October.

According to Department of Defense officials, the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group is already in waters near Israel.

Lieutenant Colonel Byron McGarry, a Defense Department spokesperson, said Defense Secretary Austin will “consider the appropriate balance of maritime capability across theaters in support of national security priorities.”

Another U.S. carrier group arrived recently in South Korea in a show of American force to Asia.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Secretary Austin as he heads the Department of Defense.
  • For Pentagon officials as they take steps to show support for Israel.
  • For the president and his administration as they consider other measures to aid Israeli defense.
